Introduction. The concept of precast construction. Advantages and disadvantages. Materials and loads. Precast members. Connections. Load bearing systems; frame systems, large panel systems, composite concrete construction. Design principles. Design of structural elements. Connection type. Structural analysis and design of precast structural systems. Design of connections. The recent developments about the earthquake resistant design of precast buildings. Earthquake damage. The methods of repair and strengthening methods.
