Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
1) Explain the necessity of maintenance, definition of maintenance, importance of maintenance function, scope and targets, failures, occurrence time of failures, failure rate, downtime, average maintenance time, maintenance costs.
2) Defines maintenance types, classical and modern maintenance types, predictive maintenance planning, reliability, mean time between failures, loading of machines. Produces solutions to the problem of effective maintenance planning to increase operational efficiency.
3) It explains the definition of TPM (total productive maintenance), its features, business objectives, changing limits in TPM, their approach to improve equipment efficiency in TPM
4) It defines the 12 steps of the TPM development program and the eight basic TPM activities.
5) Describes the necessary information for planning and scheduling maintenance activities of a component or a process.

Basic maintenance and repair concepts, Maintenance function, Maintenance effects, Maintenance models, Equipment renewal strategies, Advanced renewal strategies, Equipment renewal and repair limit method, Repair limit optimization and repair cost distribution, Maintenance Management and Control, Preventive Maintenance, Financing of preventive maintenance Training of maintenance personnel, Corrective Maintenance, Predictive maintenance, Reliability Centered Maintenance, Maintenance Models, Human Error in Maintenance, Quality and Safety in Maintenance, Cost of Maintenance, Total Efficient Maintenance (TPM). 6 major losses in TPM. Development stages of TPM, Total equipment efficiency, list of works to be done in shipyard and pool and preparetion of interest.
