Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Explain the second law of thermodynamics and the concept of exergy.
2) Explain the concept of exergy, apply the exergy balance equation to closed and open systems.
3) Analyse vapour and gas power cycles.
4) Solve problems about Otto, Diesel and hybrid cycles as well as Brayton gas turbine cycle.
5) Explain refrigeration cycles and analyse the vapour-compression refrigeration cycle.
6) Analyse reacting mixtures and combustion.
7) Explain the theory of ideal gas mixtures as well as ideal gas and vapour mixtures.
8) Explain physcrometry and apply it to vehicle air conditioning systems.

Course Contents

Thermodynamics II. summary of the law, and the use of the concept of entropy, exergy ekserjinin introduction to the concept and definition, exergy balance for closed systems, flow ekserjisi, exergy balance equation for control volumes, ekserjetik efficiency, steam power systems analysis, gas power systems, internal combustion engines, Otto, diesel and hybrid cycles, gas turbine cycles, vapor-compression refrigeration cycle, reacting mixtures and combustion chemical input, reacting systems, conservation of energy, the absolute entropy and the third law of thermodynamics, chemical exergy, efficiency ekserjetik reacting systems, chemical mixtures that do not react, the mixture determining the structure of an ideal gas mixtures, the ideal gas and vapor mixtures, psychrometrics various psychrometric processes, the implementation of the psychrometric vehicle air conditioning systems.
