Course Contents

In this course, firstly it will be analyzed with the theoretical content of politics, political thought, political trends, political ideologies, East-West, Orientalism, Occidentalism concept and concept sets. Then, the basic and general principles of Islamic political thought from the perspective of Qur'an and Sunnah will be analyzed in the formation of political reason and thought in Islam. The political developments of the Prophet Muhammad and its followers (the first four caliphs, Sunni Umayyad and Abbasi property and rulership and Shiite households and political structures) will also be examined. The pre-Islamic social, economic and political structure and historical background of the emerging political geography of Islam (such as Mesopotamia, Arabian Peninsula, Persian Empire, Egyptian and Byzantine Empire) will also be examined within the context of the course.
