Course Contents

General view regarding the journalism theories; examination of journalism theories by examples, and their importance; comparison of journalism theories.

Weekly Schedule

1) Information will be given about the content of the course, a general information will be given about theories of journalism.
2) Structuring of the science of journalism in the historical process.
3) General information will be given about the journalism theories.
4) Normative individualism approach will be discussed.
5) The researches and theories of the selection of news will be discussed.
6) Theories of journalism will be discussed from the perspective of system theory.
7) Theories of journalism will be discussed from the perspective of critical studies.
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Theories of journalism will be discussed from the perspective of cultural studies.
10) The theory of journalism will be discussed from the perspective of critical action theory.
11) Theories of journalism and economy relations will be explained.
12) The theory of journalism and politics relations will be explained.
13) Theories of journalism and public relations studies relations will be described.
14) Journalism and the reader / audience / listener relationship theories explained.
15) A general evaluation about the course will be made.
