Course Contents

Concepts of power, influence and coercion, the nature of diplomatic and strategic behavior, in view of the following areas: The state system after World War II; problems of contemporary strategy: the impact of nuclear weapons; the theory of nuclear deterrence; crisis management; limited war; arms control and the stability of mutual deterrence; arms limitations and control; detente: SALT, Mutual Forces Reduction Talks, the CSCE and the INF Treaty.
