Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
1) Evaluate the basic consepts about nationalism and minorities.
2) Evaluate the historical development of the nation-state system and their basic elements.
3) Discuss the emergence of nationalism.
4) Analyze the minority issues in post Cold War period.
5) Evaluate how to protect the rights of minorities in the international arena.

Course Contents
This course covers the rise of nationalism, definition of minority, international protection of minorities, UN and minorities, the Council of Europe and minorities, the EU and minorities, the right of the self determination and minorities.
