Course Contents

In this course, definiton of mythology will be given and its relationship with other primitive belief systems will be studied. Relationship between mythology and legend-saga-folktale will be examined. Development process of mythology, the rise of sociology in the 19th century and process of mythology becoming a field of research will be studied. Effects of myths on human life and on art will be examined. Myth-music relationship, reflection of myths on music, myths about music, cosmos, creation and breeding mythoses will be reviewed. Relationship between World mythology, West and Middle Eastern myths, Greek, Roman, Indian, Persian, Chinese, Japanese, Egyptian and Australian myths with music will be studied.
