Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Explain basic operation principles and history of antennas.
2) Define fundamental parameters of antennas such as radiation pattern and gain and solve problems related them. Drive Friss equation and radar equation.
3) Drive radiation integrals and defines auxiliary potentials. Explains related theorems.
4) Make theoretical investigations derive necessary equations of linear wire and loop antennas, travelling wave antennas, aperture antennas and horn antennas, microstrip antennas, reflector and lens antennas.
5) Give information arrays and makes their designs.
6) Explain independent antennas.
7) Give information about matching techniques.
8) Explain operation principles of smart antennas.
9) Give information about antenna measurements.

Introduction to antennas, fundamental parameters of antennas, radiation integrals and auxiliary functions, linear wire and loop antennas, antenna arrays, broad band dipoles and matching techniques, travelling wave antennas and broadband antennas, frequency independent antennas, aperture antennas and horn antennas, microstrip antennas, reflector and lens antennas, smart antennas, antenna measurements.
