Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Identify and analyze the power dynamics in the construction of environmental policies, risk management, and ecosystem/biodiversity conservation.
2) Know the relationship between the concept of environmental justice with environmental security and conflict concepts.
3) Become capable of assuming the perspectives of “the Other”, those groups, cultures, and communities that are usually disadvantaged or marginalized from processes of governance or ecosystem management.
4) Gain practical thinking about environmental justice conflicts in local, regional, national, and world-historical contexts.
5) Have the knowledge to criticize policies and propose new policies, seeing the relationship between sustainability and intergenerational justice.

The course focus on the subjects of learning theory and historical background of the environmental justice and security; explaining the casual dynamics of the environmental policies; recognizing the current threats; finding solutions.
