1) It examines the EU’s foreign policy and relations with other regions, states and regional and international organisations.
2) It analyzes the EU’s foreign policy with regard to historical development, processes, institutions, decision-making, actors and issues.
3) It evaluates the European Union’s foreign policy with regard to the EU’s security and defence policy.
4) It examines the European Union’s foreign policy issues through case studies.

Course Contents

This course includes the conceptualisation of “Europe” as region; the EU’s trade and development policies since 1957; European Political Cooperation; Common Foreign, Secırity European Political Cooperation, Common Foreign and Security Policy; Defence Policy; the foreign policies of the EU Member States; the concept of Europeanisation; the EU’s relations with other states such as the USA, Russia, China, Iran; relations with other regions including the Middle East, Africa, North and South America and Asia; with regional and international organisations such as the United Nations, NATO and etc.
