Europe, which has recently made a name for itself with terrorist acts, is not really foreign to terrorism. The systematic use of terrorism for political purposes was first realized during the French Revolution of 1789. Nationalist groups in the 19th century, anarchist, socialist, fascist and nationalist groups used this way in the 20th century. Terror, which became a monopoly of separatist and extremist groups until the early 1990s, has since become a tool for religious-based organizations. Today, in almost every metropolis in Europe, these actions are encountered. Another challenge that makes Europe difficult is that the activists are their own citizens and, in most cases, “lone wolves olmayan who are not members of an organization. In addition, the return of European citizens who are radicalized and go to conflict areas is a new problem. This course will provide information about the history of terrorism in Europe, acts of terrorism and the measures taken by Europe in the face of this security threat.
