Course Contents

The concepts of quality and quality control. The textile fiber analysis. The tests applied to yarns. The tests applied to fabrics. Marks used in the textile products.

Weekly Schedule

1) The concepts of quality and quality control, quality of design, quality of fit, the dimensions of quality.
2) Laboratory and test conditions, the measurement of atmospheric conditions.
3) Textile fibers and fiber analysis, heating and combustion methods, dying method, etc.
4) Fiber length tests.
5) The methods of measuring fiber thickness .
6) Fiber strength and the measurement of moisture
7) The measurement of the degree of ripeness of cotton fibers, the measurement of foreign matter, the measurement of the degree of curl in fibers, etc
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) The tests for the yarns, the measurement of the number and thickness of yarn
10) Yarn twist, yarn evenness tests, yarn imperfections, etc.
11) Tests are applied to fabrics, the measurement of fabric weight ,the measurement of the number of warp and weft, fabric thickness .
12) The curl of yarn in fabric, the measurement of air permeability of fabrics.
13) The main imperfections in fabrics
14) Some of the finishing operations which have significant effects on the fabric
