This course covers the definition and characteristics of language, the relationships between language and nation, and thought and culture, the world languages, the place of Turkish language among other languages, the historical development of Turkish language, Atatürk’s language revolution, his perception of language and his efforts, phonetic characteristics of Turkish language, Turkish grammar, the structure of Turkish syntax, writing rules and punctuation marks.
