1) Provide a systematical understanding of the fundamentals of the discipline of political philosophy (or, normative political theory).
2) Comparatively analyse and interpret political and moral approaches presented by the great thinkers of Ancient Ages.
3) Comparatively analyse and interpret the political and moral approaches presented by the great thinkers of Middle Ages.
4) Provide an understanding of the general direction of the historical evolution of political philosophy throughout ancient and middle ages.
5) Contribute to the ability to analyse normative aspects of actual political cases in a systematic and coherent fashion.

Course Contents
The course investigates the rise of Political Philosophy in Ancient Greek, and its development during the periods of Ancient Rome and European Middle Age. It will basically focus on the essential fird-hand texts by the influential thinkers pertaining these periods. And,the course will be supported by secondary sources either when Turkish translations of the first-hand texts are not found, or when the need arise to shed light to the social, cultural, intellectual contexts in which these thinkers developed their thought.
