Course Contents

This course tackles the major political, social and economic results of the modernization process, which began with the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century and went through great transformations after the establishment of the Turkish Republic. While discussing different theoretical approaches to modernity, a particular emphasis will be given to developing a critical approach to Classical Modernization Theory.
