Amaç 1-Makine Mühendisliği bölümü yüksek lisans programı, öğrenciye sunduğu ileri düzeyli ve özel alanlara odaklanmış derslerinin katkılarıyla, bilimsel araştırmaya yönelik problemi tanımlama, bilgiye ulaşma, konuya odaklanma ve bu hususta gereken araştırma metot ve yöntemlerini öğretmektir. 2-Ulusal ve uluslararası mühendislik alanlarında karşılaşılan mühendislik vakalarına bilimsel bir yaklaşımla ilgilenebilme ve çözüm prosedürlerini ortaya koyabilme kabiliyetini kazandırmak 3-Programın sonunda bilimsel nitelikte bir konuda araştırma yaptırarak öğrencinin araştırma, saptama, yönetme, değerlendirme ve karar verme yeteneklerini gelişmesini sağlamaktır. 1)The aim of master of sciences’ programme of Mechanical Engineering is to teach students tools of scientific research with the contribution of the specialized advanced level lectures. 2)To increase ability of the students in connection of engineering cases faced in real world and make progress self management of students in determination of remedies and solution procedures with scientific attitude in national and international arenas. 3)Make progress on scientific attitude in management, detection, evaluation and decision abilities of the students with a prepared dissertation performed on mechanical engineering cases.

Kabul Koşulları Doktora programına başvurabilmek için; ALES sınavında başvurduğu programın puan türünde en az 55 standart puan veya GRE ya da GMAT sınavlarından eşdeğer bir puan almış olmak gerekir. Adayların, İngilizce/Fransızca/Almanca dillerinden herhangi birinden, ÜDS veya KPDS’den en az 55 puan ya da YÖK’ün belirlediği sınavlardan eşdeğer puan almaları gerekir. For admission into a doctoral program, applicants must have an ALES exam score relevant to the program applied, not being less than 55 standard points or equivalent score in GRE general or GMAT. A minimum score of 55 from any of the English / French / German languages of UDS or KPDS (Governmental Foreign Language Proficiency Test)or an equivalent score from the exams recognized by The Council of Higher Education(CoHE) such as; IELTS or TOEFL . Program Genel Profili Temel bilimler veya mühendislik alanlarında lisans ve/veya yüksek lisans derecesine sahip olan öğrenciler, doktora programlarında aldıkları dersler ile çalışma alanlarında derinlemesine bilgi sahibi olurken, bir problem üzerinde tez ve hipotez geliştirerek çözüme gidecek yöntemleri belirler ve uygular. Doktora programlarında öğrencilere çalışma alanlarına uygun olarak, disiplinler arası bir yaklaşımla, ilgi alanlarına göre enstitünün çeşitli anabilim dallarında dersler sunulur. Candidates, holding Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Basic Sciences or Engineering are able to specify and apply probable solutions for a problem by suggesting thesis and hypothesis while being equipped with profound knowledge in their field of expertise. The doctorate programs in a variety of departments of the institute cover various courses offered with an interdisciplinary approach in accordance with their fields of interests. The updated laboratories equipped with high-tech infrastructures enable candidates to conduct experimental studies on their research subjects.
Genel Bilgi Kocaeli Üniversitesi, 1976 yılında Makine ve Elektrik Mühendisliği bölümleri olarak 1976 yılında eğitime başladı. Makine Mühendisliği Bölümü 2012 yılı Ekim ayı itibariyle 11 Profesör, 4 Doçent, 9 Yardımcı Doçent ve 13 Araştırma Görevlisi olmak üzere toplam 73 kişilik kadrosu ve 1400 öğrencisi ile eğitime devam etmektedir. Kocaeli University was founded in 1976. At the beginning, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering Departments started education. The academic staff of Mechanical Engineering Department consists of 11 Professors, 4 Associate Professors, 9 Assistant Professors and 13 Research Assistants. The departments within the programme are; Machinery and Manufacturing, Construction, Thermodynamics and Heat Technologies, Machine Theory-System Dynamics and Control, Automotive, and Mechanics.

So as to be granted a degree from the program, a student is required to be successful in all the courses and seminar offered by the program and reach 240 ECTS in total, pass the qualifying exam and successfully complete and defend a doctoral dissertation, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3,00 out of 4,00.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral transfer is possible for students of master's and doctorate programmes who have successfully completed at least one semester at another department of the same university and the same institute, or at a master's and doctorate programme of another equivalent institute of another higher education institute. According to the related bylaws, the courses that a lateral transfer student should take within the scope of 'Programme Adjustment' are determined by the committee of the relevant department. The determination of which and how many of the previously taken courses should be recognized within scope of the minimum course load, is suggested by the advisor and the committee of the relevant department,as well. "Full Recognition" is provided upon the approval of those courses by the board of chairs of relevant institute.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of informal and non formal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).
