1) Analysing English literature with its leading figures in the historical context beginning from the Anglo-Saxon period until the end of the 17th century.
2) Making an analysis of the historical, cultural and political background of the literary texts
3) Developing a preparedness towards the problems to be encountered in real life
4) Differentiating between the philosophical and ideological concepts of the western thought and cultural differences.
5) Appreciating the values and attitudes of different people and cultures.
6) Analysing various literary genres and their generic features.
