1) Analysing English literature with its leading figures in the historical context beginning from the 17th century until mid-20th century.
2) Analysing the historical, cultural and political background of the literary texts
3) Recognising the various literary genres and their generic features.
4) Developing a preparedness towards the problems to be encountered in real life.
5) Differentiating between the philosophical and ideological concepts of the western thought and the cultural differences.
6) Appreciating the values and attitudes of different people and cultures.
