1) Analyze the English poetic traditions and genres from the beginnings to the end of the 18th century
2) Gain the ability to analyse works of poetry by identifying the figures of speech and discovering the figuartive levels of meanings in the poems
3) Differentiate between the poems and the poetic conventions emerged in different periods.
4) Develop a preparedness towards the problems to be encountered in real life
5) Have an aesthetical outlook towards life, developing a philosophical and ideological view through literary texts
6) Appreciate the values and attitudes of different people and cultures and to be civil and tolerant against different cultures
7) Compare and contrast the western civilization with that of themselves in view of politics and culture
