Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Be able to analyze literary texts critically.
2) Develop their vocabulary skills.
3) Have several perspectives on events and on the phenomena around him
4) Have an aesthetical outlook towards life, developing a philosophical and ideological view through literary texts.
5) Appreciate the values and attitudes of different people and cultures and to be civil and tolerant against different cultures
6) Compare and contrast the western civilization with that of themselves in view of politics and culture
7) Familarize themselves with the terminology of the texts on politics culture, sociology and philosophy
8) Comprehend the aim of criticism and various theories related to criticism.
9) Find out topics and main ideas together with major and minor details.
10) Identify and analyze the figurative language, attitude, tone, mood, ambiguity, conflicts.
11) Apply different theoretical approaches in reading the texts.

The course provides critical study of literary texts as fiction, essay, article, and the differences between synonymous words in English and the phrasel verbs to enhance the word-stock of students
