1) Compute power transmission line parameters
2) Obtain equivalent circuit of short, medium and long transmission lines
3) Obtain current-voltage equations for short, medium and long transmission lines
4) Describe the terms of voltage regulation, line efficiency, steady state stability limit and surge impedance loading.
5) List the types of reactive power compensation in transmission lines
6) Obtain transformer and generator equivalent circuits in steady state, and derives currant-voltage equations.
7) Compute current, voltage and power in a transmission system under various loading conditions
8) Perform Per-unit modelling of transmission system
9) Explain the role and features of transmission systems in power system

Course Contents

This lesson covers fundamentals of power transmisson systems, Short, medium and long tranmission line modelling and voltage current relations, Line modeling with PI and T equivalent circuits, Lossless lines and surge impedance loading, steady state maximum power transfer, equivalent circuts of generators and transformers, per-unit systems
