Bringing up the Department of Electrical Engineering to a leader position on national area with high quality education and research
Kabul Koşulları Kocaeli Üniversitesi Mühendislik Fakültesi Elektrik Mühendisliği Bölümü'ne kayıt yaptırmak için ÖSYM tarafından düzenlenen sınavları başarmış olmak gerekir. Yurt içi veya dışında eşdeğer bir programda öğrenim gören bir öğrenci, üniversite tarafından kontenjan açıldığı takdirde yatay geçiş için başvuru yapabilir. Öğrenci kabulü, başvuruda bulunan öğrencilerin başarı durumlarının değerlendirilmesi sonucu gerçekleşir. Detaylı bilgi için lütfen Kocaeli Üniversitesi Önlisans ve Lisans Eğitim-Öğretim ve Sınav Yönetmeliği ilgili maddelerine bakınız. Students who get the required score from relevant test type in central university placement test conducted by OSYM ( Student Selection and Placement Center) can register to Kocaeli University Electrical Engineering Department. Lateral and Vertical transfer student of an equivalent program is also possible in case any quota is provided by the university. Graduates of associate degree programs of relevant field of study are also admitted to the program for their further studies on condition that they get the required score from Vertical Transfer Examination conducted by OSYM ( Student Selection and Placement Center). International and exchange student admission is also possible within bilateral agreements.

The program aims to bring up individuals who give weight to local and national values, create and apply projects by taking social requirements and industrial developments into account, and contribute to universal science.
Genel Bilgi Elektrik Mühendisliği Bölümü 1976 yılında Kocaeli Devlet Mühendislik ve Mimarlık Akademisi içinde kurulmuştur. Daha sonra KDMMA Akademinin 1982 yılında Yıldız Teknik Üniversitesine bağlı Kocaeli Mühendislik Fakültesine dönüştürülmesi üzerine bölüm bu fakülteye bağlanmıştır. 1992 yılından bu yana Kocaeli Üniversitesi Mühendislik Fakültesine bağlı olarak çalışmalarını sürdürmektedir. Elektrik Mühendisliği Bölümünde Elektrik Makinaları ve Elektrik Tesisleri olmak üzere iki anabilim dalı bulunmaktadır. Devre ve denetim sistemleri tasarımı, analizi, uygulama ve yorumlama, elektrik makinaları tasarımı ve denetimi (analog ve sayısal), elektrik enerjisi üretimi, iletimi, dağıtımı ve kalitesi, güç elektroniği, yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarından güneş ve rüzgar enerjisi konularında gelişmeler izlenmekte ve proje bazlı konularda çalışmalar yürütülmektedir. Öğrenciler pratik deneyim kazanabilmek için labaratuarlarda güncel mesleki deneysel çalışmalar yapmaktadırlar. Yoğun olarak verilen kuramsal bilgiler, sahip olduğumuz 5 adet farklı laboratuvarla pratik bilgilerle bütünleştirilerek etkin ve uygulamaya yönelik elektrik mühendisliği eğitimi verilmektedir. Üniversite-Sanayi işbirliği çerçevesinde kamu ve sanayi tesislerinin ihtiyaç duyduğu enerji üretim, üretim planlama, iletim ve dağıtım şebekelerinin tasarımı konularında danışmanlık ve proje hizmetleri verilmektedir. Ayrıca endüstri ve sanayi tesislerinin denetim ve otomasyon konularında da hizmetler sunulmaktadır. Bölüm öğrencileri Mühendislik Fakültesi içindeki Elektronik ve Haberleşme Mühendisliği, Bilgisayar Mühendisliği ve Mekatronik Mühendisliği ile Çift Anadal programlarına (ÇAP), yurt içi ve yurt dışındaki anlaşmalı üniversitelerle öğrenci değişim programlarına (FARABİ, ERASMUS) katılabilmektedir. 20 öğretim üyesi, 7 araştırma görevlisi ve 1 uzman kadrosu bulunan ve güncel ders program ve içerikleri sunulan bölümde, öğretim süreleri I. öğretimde ve II. öğretimde dört yıl olmak üzere isteğe bağlı ingilizce hazırlık eğitimi de verilmektedir. The Department of Electrical Engineering was established in the year 1976 as a part of Kocaeli State Architecture and Engineering Academy. Later in 1982, the academy was renamed as Kocaeli Engineering Faculty of Yıldız Technical University. The Higher Education Council accepted Kocaeli University as a state university since 1992 The Department of Electrical Engineering continues its activities with Kocaeli University There are two area divisions, Electrical Machinery and Power systems, at the Department of Electrical Engineering. Circuit and control system design, analysis, practice and interpretation, design of electrical machines and their control, generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, power quality, power electronics, photovoltaic and wind energy as reneawable energy systems are the main subjects of these areas. The goal of the department is to give a modern and effective electrical engineering education with theoretical and practical studies. Also, services are available for industry at the frame of university-industry cooperation Department of Electrical Engineering has 20 faculty members including 4 professors, 3 associate professors and 13 assistant professors. It also has 6 research assistants and 1 specialist staff.
Mezunlar İçin İstihdam Olanakları Elektrik Mühendisliği Bölümü mezunları; (a) Elektrik Mühendisliği ile ilgili eğitim ve öğretim kuruluşlarında akademik eleman olarak, (b) Özel ve kamu kuruluşlarında; enerji üretimi, iletimi, dağıtımı, aydınlatma ve iç tesisat konularında projelendirme, uygulama ve kontrol elemanı olarak, (c) Elektrik Makinaları, Güç elektroniği, Kontrol ve Otomasyon, Ölçme konularında faaliyet gösteren kamu ve özel sektör firmalarında Elektrik Mühendisi olarak, (d) Elektrik Mühendisliği ile ilgili ürünlerin satış ve pazarlamasında, (e) Elektrik enerjisinin planlanması, yönetimi ve verimliliği konularında, (f) Ayrıca Elektrik Mühendisliği konularında serbest olarak da çalışabilirler. Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral or vertical transfer student admission is carried out basing on the "The Transfer Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees, Double Majors, Sub-specialties and Credit Transfer Regulations among Institutions". The prior learning of transfer students is recognized as per the relevant regulations of Council of Higher Education and under the coordination of the Adaptation Committee.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of non-formal and informal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Examination, assessment and grading procedure is mainly based on Kocaeli University Education and Training Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees Depending on the nature of the course various instruments such as midterms, final exams, short exams, presentations, assignments, projects, portfolios and applications may be involved in the assessment process of a semester on condition that students are informed about their weights upon registry. Contribution of these activities to final grading range between 30% -70% and So as to be eligible to take the final exam, a student has to fulfill the attendance requirement of 70% for theoretical and 80 % for practical courses. Once this requirement is fulfilled, attendance is not required again in case of a failure and retaking that course. Final grading of a course is determined on the basis of semester studies and final exam. Those with certified and officially approved excuses are also given a makeup exam.
