This lesson covers the concept of protection. Power supply arrangements, power system errors, causes of errors, Protection principles. Selectivity, time selectivity, selectivity depending on the current amplitude, selectivity based on distance measurement. Derivation of relaying quantities. Protection elements, relays, current measuring transformers, voltage measuring transformers. Feeder protection, distance protection and transformer protection.
