Course Contents

Science of concretic and polimeric building materials, resurfacing materials, waterproofing materials and admixtures, durability, in situ evaluation of reinforced-concrete building with non-destructive methods, repair procedures and techics of cracks, special technics.

2) Portland cement and other cement types
3) Water used in concrete
4) Concrete additives and concrete properties which they affect
5) Properties of fresh concrete: workability, consistency, bleeding, stiffening, setting, air-entrainment, unit weight, uniformity, batching, mixing, conveying, placing, compaction and curing
6) Calculation of concrete materials mixture ratio
7) Production and transportation of concrete, placement and compaction of fresh concrete
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Concrete curing, cold and design of concrete in hot weather conditions
10) Compressive strength of concrete
11) Tensile strength of concrete, fatigue strength of concrete.
12) Stress - strain relations, Poisson's ratio, modulus of elasticity and shear modulus
13) Permeability of concrete
14) Time-dependent behavior, shrinkage and creep
15) Durability of concrete
16) Final examination
