Structural Analysis

Course Contents

Earthquake motion. Vibration of structures under ground motion. Behaviour of elements of reinforced concrete structures. Earthquake resistant design of reinforced concrete structures. Derivation of elastic response spectra and earthquake design spectra. Free and forced vibration analysis of frame structures. Modal spectral analysis and equivalent static lateral force method. Design codes, design applications. Earthquakes in Turkey. Earthquake hazards. Repair and strengthening of structures. Seismic behaviour of existing structures.

4) Linear Single Degree of Freedom Systems, Earthquake Spectra and algorithms and application in engineering day practice.
5) Multy Degree of Freedom Systems and behaviour of the real engineering structures - apartment buildings in particular.
6) Methods of the structural earthquake analysis based on Turkish Earthquake Code (2007) and structural dynamics
7) Earthquake loading and structural ductility, reduction of the earthquake loading
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) frame and shear wall systems, design criterias of such buildings in Turkish earthquake code (2007)
10) Consturictive details of the Turkish Building code (2007)
11) Footings and soil characteristics in Turkish building code (2007).
12) Structural and nonstructural damages observed in engineering structures after the earthquake.
13) Vulnarability analysis of the structures in Turkish building Code - Chapter 7 (2007)
