Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) The students will get familar with construction management.
2) The student will learn about the basic terms in civil engineering, such as tender, site, unit price and etc.
3) The students will learn about construction equipments, which purposes they are used and so on.
4) The students will learn about planing and organization and also methods for planning.
5) The students will learn some definitions in construction management such as quantity survey, progress payment and so on.
6) The students will learn about the inspection of construction works.
7) The students will learn about the occupational safety and health.

Tasks in planning and design stages and participants of theese stages. Substages of design and Decisions in theese stages. Tasks in the bidding stage. Tasks and Participants in the construction stage. Tasks of owners and/or owner representatives in construction stage. Tasks of designers in construction stage. Public inspections in construction. Head Office functions in construction firms. Site Organizations of construction firms. Tasks of site managers. Project Administration. Tasks of the Construction Manager in Construction Management Project Delivery System. Ethics in engineering.

3) Tenders, types of tenders, laws about tenders
4) The construction sites, organization and planning of construction sites
5) Machinery in construction sites, on what purpose they are used
6) Work schedules, work programmes
7) Critical path method, CPM
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Some terms in construction management, unit assessments, quantity survey, progress payment
10) Determination of excavation works and concrete amount
11) Determination of concrete works, stone walls, brick walls and mortars
12) Determination of paints and white wash, door and window amounts
13) Ethics in engineering
14) Ethics in civil engineering
15) Control of construction, occupational safety and health in construction works. Legal sanction.
16) Final examination
