Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Explain the basic concepts concerned with the pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical industry.
2) Grasp how pharmaceutical industry develops in the world and in our country from past to present.
3) Evaluate the status of the pharmaceutical industry in our country and compare it with the developments in the world, express the strong and weak sides.
4) Make the classification of the pharmaceuticals according to their functions and formulations by giving examples.
5) Grasp the phases which the pharmaceutical research and development includes, and relations between these phases.
6) Recognize the today's manufacturing techniques of various pharmaceutical formulations.
7) Recognize and discuss the new ideas developed for pharmaceutical industry, and grasp and interpret the forecasts about the future of the pharmaceutical industry.

Introduction to pharmaceutical industry and basic concepts, the pharmaceutical industry in the world and in our country, the classification of pharmaceuticals, R&D processes in the pharmaceutical industry, manufacturing systems for solid, semi-solid, liquid and sterile pharmaceuticals, packaging systems, new ideas for the pharmaceutical industry and the future of the pharmaceutical industry.
