Kabul Koşulları Kocaeli Üniversitesi Kimya Müh Bölümüne Üniversitelere Giriş Sınavının ilgili puan türünden yeterli puanı alan öğrenciler kayıt yaptırabilmektedir. Bölüme eşdeğer bir programda eğitim gören öğrenci üniversite tarafından kontenjan açıldığı takdirde yatay geçiş için başvuru yapabilir. Students who get the required score from relevant test type in the central university placement test conducted by OSYM ( Student Selection and Placement Center) can register to Kocaeli University Chemical Engineering Department. Lateral transfer student of an equivalent program is also possible in case a quota is provided by the university. Graduates of associate degree programs of relevant field of study are also admitted to the program for their further studies on condition that they get the required score from Vertical Transfer Examination conducted by OSYM ( Student Selection and Placement Center).

Program Genel Profili Bölüm öğretim elemanları plastik ve kauçuk, katalizör geliştirme, reaksiyon müh, membran prosesleri ve biyoteknoloji gibi çok çeşitli alanlarda projeler yürütmektedirler. Bölümümüzün endüstriyel uygulamalı seçmeli dersleri oldukça fazladır ve sektörel mesleki uygulamalı bitirme projeleri yaptırılmaktadır. Bölüm lisans öğrencileri almaları gereken seçmeli derslerde çok çeşitli uygulamaları bir arada görebilmektedirler. Lisans öğrenimini tamamlayan mezunlarımız meslekle ilgili çeşitli alanlarda akademik çalışma yapabilmektedirler. Bölümde teorik olarak görülen derslerin pratik uygulaması zorunlu stajlar ile desteklenmektedir. Eğitim programımızın içeriği dünyadaki eşdeğer programlar dikkate alınarak oluşturulduğundan öğrencilerimizin ulusal ve uluslararası alanda akademik kariyerlerine devam etmeleri ve iş bulmaları kolay olmaktadır. Department academic staff have been carrying out various projects on different areas such as plastics and rubber, catalysis, reaction engineering, membrane processes and biotechnology. Selective courses on industrial applications are many and graduation projects on these subjects are also being carried out. Department undergraduate students have the chance to see many industrial applications in the selective courses which they have to take. Our students completing the program can do variaous researches and academic studies on subjects related with their profession. Theoretical courses are also supported with the obligatory internship. Since our curriculum has been established taking the equivalent programs in the world into account , students will be able to continue their academic or industrial careers and find jobs easily.
Genel Bilgi Kimya Mühendisliği Bölümü 1996 tarihinde Kocaeli Üniversitesi Mühendislik Fakültesi bünyesinde kurulmuştur. Eğitim-öğretime 1999-2000 öğretim yılında başlamıştır. 2009 yılı Eylül ayından beri Umuttepe Kampüsü Mühendislik Fakültesinde eğitim öğretime devam etmektedir. 2010 yılında eski anabilim dalları kaldırılarak “Kimya Mühendisliği Anabilim Dalı” adı altında birleştirilmiştir. Lisans öğreniminde 1 yıl İngilizce hazırlık ve 4 yıl Kimya Müh eğitimi verilmektedir. Kimya Mühendisliği Bölümü Lisans, Yüksek Lisans ve Doktora derecelerine yönelik eğitim vermektedir. Eğitim dili %30 İngilizcedir. Bölüm öğrencileri Çevre Mühendisliği ve Fen Edebiyat Fakültesi Kimya Bölümü ile Çift Anadal Programı (ÇAP) yapabilmektedirler. Ayrıca, yurt içi ve yurtdışındaki anlaşmalı üniversitelerle FARABİ ve ERASMUS gibi öğrenci değişim porgramlarına katılabilmektedir. Chemical Engineering Department was founded in 1996 under the Faculty of Engineering, Kocaeli University. Education began in 1999-2000 academic period. Since September 2009, education has been continuing in the Umuttepe Campus, Faculty of Engineering. Old divisions were collected and unified under “Chemical Engineering Basic Department” in 2010. In the undergraduate curriculum 1 year of English Preparatory and 4 years of chemical engineering education is being offered today. Department has undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D programs. The medium of instruction is 30% English. Department students can complete Environmental Engineering major and Chemistry major with chemical engineering (double major). Besides, they can join the Exchange programs such as FARABİ and ERASMUS within the framework of bilateral agreements. In the department many joint researches and projects are in progress within the scope of university-industry cooperation

Graduates of the program can continue their academic studies at master’s and then doctorate programs on condition that they get the required score from related test parts of ALES (Examination for Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education) and on condition that they certify their foreign language proficiency through central examinations such as TOEFL,YDS,etc.
Mezuniyet Koşulları Kimya Mühendisliği Bölümünden mezun olabilmek için öncelikle öğrencilerin İngilizce muafiyet sınavını geçmeleri ya da hazırlık sınıfını başarıyla bitirmiş olmaları gerekmektedir. Dört yıllık lisans öğrenimi sırasında 240 AKTS iş yüküne karşılık gelen dersleri alıp başarmış olmaları beklenmektedir. Dersler, zorunlu ve seçmeli olmak üzere iki gruba ayrılır. Her öğrenci kayıtlı olduğu bölümün/programın zorunlu derslerini almakla yükümlüdür. Seçmeli dersler; bölüm/program seçmeli dersleri ve üniversite seçmeli dersleri olmak üzere iki gruba ayrılır. Buna ek olarak derslerin %30’unu İngilizce olarak alıp başarmalıdırlar. In order to be graduated from the Chemical Engineering Department, students must pass the English proficiency exam or accomplish the English preparatory class. Students must complete 240 ECTS worth course successfully during their four years of undergraduate education. Courses are divided into two categories as; elective and compulsory courses. All students must take the compulsory courses of the program they are enrolled into. Elective courses are further divided into two categories; department elective courses and university elective courses. In addition, students must take 30% of the courses in English. Undergraduate students must have at least 30 days of industrial practice (15 days of laboratory and 15 days of operational) in fields approved by the department.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral or vertical transfer student admission is carried out basing on the "The Transfer Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees, Double Majors, Sub-specialties and Credit Transfer Regulations among Institutions". The prior learning of transfer students is recognized as per the relevant regulations of Council of Higher Education and under the coordination of the Adaptation Committee.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of non-formal and informal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Examination, assessment and grading procedure is mainly based on Kocaeli University Education and Training Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees Depending on the nature of the course various instruments such as midterms, final exams, short exams, presentations, assignments, projects, portfolios and applications may be involved in the assessment process of a semester on condition that students are informed about their weights upon registry. Contribution of these activities to final grading range between 30% -70% and So as to be eligible to take the final exam, a student has to fulfill the attendance requirement of 70% for theoretical and 80 % for practical courses. Once this requirement is fulfilled, attendance is not required again in case of a failure and retaking that course. Final grading of a course is determined on the basis of semester studies and final exam. Those with certified and officially approved excuses are also given a makeup exam.
