In the course of The Law on The Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets, the topics related to the public awareness of the protection of cultural and natural assets will be considered first. The reasons why it is necessary to protect Cultural and Natural assets, and the public interest in their protection will also be considered under this head. Necessities provided by the national law, and the obligations arisen from the international conventions to which Turkey is a party concerning the protection of cultural and natural assets will be covered in this course. Especially Venice (Charter) Regulations will be examined in this context. After examining the necessity of the protection of cultural and natural assets, concepts of cultural and natural assets and frequently asked conceptions on the protection of historical and natural assets will be emphasized. The construction of common terminology in the process of protecting of cultural and natural assets as a reflection of this commitment, the law, international conventions, regulations and principal decisions, concepts, meanings and content will be covered. After learning basic concepts of protection of cultural and natural assets, the classification of cultural and natural assets to be protected will be made. The distinction between the cultural assets and the natural assets, and the distinctions between the movable cultural assets and the immovable culture assets will be examined. The determination of immovable cultural assets and the scales of its classifications will be covered. After learning what cultural and natural assets are, implementations of protective measures for these assets will be examined. Administrative structure concerning the protection of immovable cultural and natural assets will be discussed. In the context of the protection of movable assets, museums; in the context of the protection of immovable assets, structures of Councils for the Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets will be discussed. Not only will the practices of the Regional Councils be considered but also the role and the practices of the central administration will be discussed under this head. Both the Regional Councils and the Higher Council for the Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets plays the main role in the protection of such assets. And thus the functions and the powers of these institutions are considered in detail. Under the title of practices of the Councils mentioned above for the protection of such assets, following topics will be discussed: decisions of SIT, participation in/approval of the preparation of the construction plans aiming at the protection of such assets, decision of registration, evaluation and consideration of projects for the protection of such assets.
