Course Contents

Basic concepts in public health; public health perspective in identifying and solving health problems in society, structure and functioning of the health system in Turkey; To be able to evaluate the compliance with ethics in preventive and curative health services, to be able to recognize the ethical problems encountered and to produce solutions.

1) Public health – community medical sciences; Basic concepts in public health; History of health services in Turkey; Medical ethics education, philosophical foundations of medical ethics: the relationship between ethical theory, ethical principles and rules; Services carried out in the primary level; Health Systems; health reforms; Principles of medical ethics-I: respect for autonomy and justice; Health economics: definitions and concepts; Public Health Practice-I; Inpatient treatment institutions; hospital management; Clinical reasoning and diagnostic approach in Family Medicine; Features of diagnostic screening tests and their use in primary care; Discrimination and health services; Public Health and Advocacy; Healthcare Management.
2) Regional health services; health education and health literacy; Globalization and health; Principles of medical ethics II: Do no harm and benefit; Ethical issues related to the exchange of information I: informed consent; Ethical issues related to the exchange of information II: Telling the truth; Social policy; Health law; Demography; Primary forensic medicine services in death cases; human rights violations in Turkey; Public Health Practice II; Nutritional problems in Turkey and in the world; Relationship between nutrition and health; Community nutrition; Ethical issues related to the exchange of information III: Medical confidentiality, secrecy and disclosure; Ethical teachings: do-avoidance, double action, unusual means; PBL Session I; Social health measures and inequalities; Concepts in environmental health Climate change and health; Public health practice – III.
