Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Meets the patients and their relatives in an appropriate way in pediatric emergency services, outpatient clinics and inpatient services.
2) Communicates well with the child and his family. Demonstrates the ability to take a story from the child or his family due to child's age.
3) Monitors the growth, vaccinations and nutrition of a healthy child from birth.
4) Makes anthropometric measurements of the child, marks on the growth curves and interprets them. Plans and refers for audits if needed
5) Evaluates the general condition and vital signs (heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure) in the child.
6) Performs a physical examination appropriate for the child's age.
7) Puts in order pediatric patients admitted to the pediatric emergency department of urgency according to the severity of their illness.
8) Knows and applies emergency intervention to symptoms such as high fever and convulsions.
9) Knows and can applies the basic life support principles when necessary.
10) Recognizes and treats diseases that are common in childhood (upper respiratory tract infection, otitis media, urinary tract infection, gastroenteritis, etc.).
11) Knows the consultation indications and requests consultation from the relevant department when necessary.
12) Distinguishes diseases that require expertise. Refers the patient to the relevant department by making the first evaluation and intervention.
13) Keeps medical records of patients appropriately in written and electronic media.
14) Communicates effectively with the patient, relatives, colleagues and other health personnel.
15) Makes effective teamwork with colleagues and other health personnel.
16) Performs a literature review, critically evaluates and presents in line with the defined purpose.
