Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Students explain the formation mechanisms of urinary system diseases,
2) Students know the causes of urinary system diseases, clinical features of diseases, laboratory and imaging findings and partly basic concepts related to treatment methods,
3) Students know the functional and anatomical features of the urinary system and the terminology,
4) Students recognize kidney function tests and urinary system imaging methods,
5) Students know the physiology of fluid-electrolyte and acid-base balance, balance disorders and their causes,
6) Students explain the definition, physiopathology and causes of high blood pressure.
7) Students explain the definition, pathology and causes of acute and chronic renal failure,
8) Students know the definition, pathology and causes of nephritis and nephrotic syndrome,
9) Students know urinary system infections and sexually transmitted diseases, virulence mechanisms of bacteria and fungi,
10) Students classify urinary system tumors,
11) Students explain the general characteristics of diseases related to the male reproductive system, bladder and urethra,
12) Students will learn the renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone system and related drugs and diuretics,
13) Students explain the relationship between congenital anomalies and infections of the urinary system.

Basic concepts related to the formation mechanisms of urinary, reproductive and endocrine system diseases, causes of disease, clinical features of diseases, laboratory and imaging findings and partial treatment methods.

1) Introduction to kidney pathology and congenital developmental disorders of kidney and cysts; Urinary system semiology and symptomatology; Urine analysis and its clinical significance; Evaluation of kidney functions; Physiopathology of acute kidney injury; Chronic kidney disease pathophysiology; Clinical signs and symptoms of kidney diseases; Glomerular diseases; Nephrotic syndrome and edema pathophysiology; Fluid-electrolyte balance disorders in adults; Acid-base balance disorders in adults; Fluid-electrolyte balance disorders in children; Acid and base balance disorders in children; HIV Infection; poststreptococcal acute glomerulonephritis; Vasculitis and kidney; acute renal failure in children; Pathology of glomerular diseases; Kidney and hypertension; Systemic diseases affecting the kidney (hypertension, diabetes mellitus, SLE and amyloidosis); Vascular diseases of the kidney; Hypertension in children, Renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system pharmacology; diuretic drugs; Drugs used in fluid-electrolyte balance disorder; Drugs used in acid-base balance disorder.
