Course Contents

Gregorean Modes, chord structures, compas analysis, falseta anlysis in rhtmic and harmonic concept, special technic approaches, rasgueado formulas

1) History of Flamenco, Introduction to the Flamenco guitar, phsycal properties, Basic concepts of Flamenco, introduction, chord combinations, concepts of tension-solution ,question-answer, redoble-vuelta-anacrusis
2) Gregorian scales and mode definitions and combinations
3) The 2/4, 4/4 Flamenco Forms; Farruca and Colombianas, characteristic compas, cierre
4) Traditional and contemporary falsetas – Farruca and Colombianas
5) Improvising on falsetas and transcription
6) Introduction to Sevillanas, Copla, Salida
7) Improvisation and transcription works on related falseta
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Zapateado – Tanguillo characteristic compas, cierre
10) Traditional and contemporary falsetas
