Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) To understand the philosophical basis of music education
2) To get information about the psycological basis of music education
3) To get familiar with the music instruments and their sounds in the music lessons at school as piano, guitar, block flute, pitched and unpitched percussion instruments
4) To establish a repertoire with the rhymes, songs and listening samples and the other music activities, which can be used in the music lessons at school
5) Understanding the special teaching methods and techniques which are used in the music lessons at school
6) The e able to use of special teaching, methods and techniques related with music education
7) Perform arrangements with easy Orff accompany
8) To produce some materials that can be use in music training

Course Contents

The methods and approches of teaching music; it deals with the approaches and teaching phases of Dalcroze, Kodaly, Orff and Suzuki.

Weekly Schedule

1) Giving short information about teaching methods in music lessons
2) The discussion of the subject of music education in our country, the general music education system, the understanding of the new program in our country, the philosophy of music programs in our country, how should the music teachers behave in primary and secondary schools related with the music system, knowlegdge about music, what do we expect from music capabilities and music education, the aims of music lessons and accordingly with this aims how should be music teached
3) What is the method? Giving information about general teaching methods and giving information about special teaching methods (music teaching methods) by explaning music teaching methods within the historical period. Introduction of Fonomimi works
4) The philosophy of the Kodaly method, according to Kodaly recognition of the lesson proceeding period in the scope of the general lesson plan
5) Introduction of the Orff approach and the Orff instruments
6) Giving information about the Orff teaching phases and the writting of notes with the Orff regulations
7) General repeat before the exam

9) How should the listening lesson be performed, introduction of the material to be used
