Basic Design Principles

Course Contents

Visual Arts and Artists, a mental activity as a visual and abstract concepts Explanation of thinking workshop environment issues in a flexible, free, exploratory, constructive and application and experimental design work in an environment Basic design issues within the scope of (point, line, light, form, shape, color) and the application of narrative, accompanied by case studies (black-and-white, light-medium-dark, volume-mass-space) (Odds-ratio, Structural System, the perspective etc.) as a practical investigation of cases.

Weekly Schedule

1) Definition of art, aesthetics, philosophy of art, a work of art.
2) Basic art education history. Bauhaus school and art education in Turkey.
3) Photography's transformation to moving image, history of it, examples of visuals of the era.
4) Usage of the point and line in pattern, examples from the masters and practice exercises.
5) Camera types inserted into our daily lives with the progress of the moving image, inventions and inventors.
6) High-speed camera systems, audio samples, inventions and inventors.
7) Black and white composition using the triangle, square, round forms and surface evaluation studies.
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Physical description of the color, color - object relations and color-mixing properties.
10) Abstract surface composition with the point, line, and scan techniques.
11) Color perceptions and psychological effects of color on people.
12) Evaluation of the period between I and II World War within the history of art and conversion in aesthetic perception.
13) Evaluation of the period between I and II World War within the history of art and conversion in aesthetic perception. Art analysis and artists.
14) Texture, the dynamism of the texture in painting and color and black and white applications of the same texture with different techniques.
15) Looking seeing, monitoring concepts, necessary behavior in development of creative vision and example screenings from the works.
