Course Contents

Having general knowledge of film analyzing. Having ability to question the film products, content and having able to analyze their expressions.

Weekly Schedule

1) Characterizations of course content and general outlines. The importance of cinema as a visual means of communication.
2) What is the language and analysis of film? Explanation about the Micro and Macro analysis.
3) Explanations about the film production process. Analyzes about the story types.
4) Watching the movie "High Noon". Cowboy films as a popular movie type and its analyze with Macroanalysis method.
5) Explanations about the iconography and character types.
6) Explanations about Diegesis and Mimesis. General knowledge about the story and narration.
7) Classic storytelling. Propp and Todorov's narration propositions.
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Micro Analysis and basic elements: scene, visualization, cinematography, lighting, composition.
10) Watching the movie "Die Hard 3" and its analyze with Microanalysis.
11) Micro Analysis and its basic elements: theme, symbolism, sound, editing, SFX,
12) Watching the movie "Donnie Darko" and its analyze with Microanalysis.
13) Watching the movie "Spider Man" and its analyze with Microanalysis method in action movies.
14) Watching the movie "Matrix" and its analyze with Microanalysis method.
