Course Contents

Within the scope of this course, create moving images of the first device, beginning of the moving image, the industry's beginning, art direction developments in, currents in cinema will be examined.

Weekly Schedule

1) First devices that formed moving images.
2) Beginning of the moving image: Edison, Lumière Brothers, G. Melies.
3) Beginning of the industry: Pathe, Gaumont and Edison productions.
4) Developments towards Art: E. Porter, D. W. Griffith.
5) Pioneer Soviet directors: Pudovkin, Vertov, Eisenstein
6) German Expressionist Cinema: Stellan Rye, Paul Wegener, Otto Rippert, Robert Wien, Fritz Lang, Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau, Paul Leni.
7) French avant-garde cinema: Germaine Dulac, Man Ray, René Clair
