1) Explains dramaturgy, the importance of storytelling and classic dramatic action.
2) Lists scriptwriting techniques and writes scripts.
3) Explains synopsis, treatment and cinema scenario stages.
4) Explains the possible subjects and basic elements that should be on a story to be written as script.
5) Compares the history of film analysis and scriptwriting.

Course Contents

Having a general knowledge about scriptwriting. Teaching of scenario definitions and what writers needs to do during the scriptwriting. Teaching scriptwriting techniques.

Weekly Schedule

1) Students will be informed about the purpose and contents of the course.
2) Scenario definition and its properties. Required aspects for screenwriting and uses of script techniques.
3) Film form and film content. Contains of story: Theme, Structure, Character, Scene. Storytelling and Dramaturgy.
4) Filmic Elements: Filmic Time, Filmic Space, Movement, İmagination and Sound.
5) Informaiton about the filmic screenplay. The basic elements tha required in the story.
6) Step by step scenario: Writing skills of synopsis, treatment and cinema scenario. Shooting scenario and shooting information about things to be noted.
7) Information about the dramatic structure and script elements. Screenplay structure and elements of a dramatic movement.
8) Midterm Examination / Assessment
9) Information about the basic elements of the story.
10) Using photographs to create stories.
11) Structural scheme of a movie.
12) Practises about writing a synopsis text and writing a treatment text.
13) Practises about the scriptwriting.
14) Film reviews as an example: Feature films, TV serials and sit-com.
15) General Review.
16) Final Examination
