The scope of the course is to make applications of General Chemistry I in the laboratory

Weekly Schedule

1) Recognition of the chemistry laboratory, working rules in the laboratory, safety rules in the laboratory, laboratory materials that should be found in the chemistry laboratory and their use, safety signs on the packaging of chemical substances and their meanings.
2) Laboratory accidents, poisoning and protection, promotion and cleaning of glassware.
3) a) Solution preparation (% by Mass, Vol. %, Molarity, Dilution, Normality, Molality) b) Buffer solution preparation
4) Gravimetric analysis a) Conservation of mass (calculating the amount of crystal water in Bluestone, finding the formula unit of the compound); b) Quantitative analysis experiment (finding the percentage of components in the KClO3 + NaCl mixture) c) Determination of Molecular Mass of a Volatile Liquid ?
5) Volumetric analysis a) Determination of acetic acid in vinegar b) Determination of hardness in water c) Determination of acetylsalicylic acid in aspirin
6) Ideal Gases a) Finding the molecular mass of a volatile gas; b) Emission of gases
7) Midterm
8) a) Determination of dissolution and neutralization heats; b) Colligative properties (Freezing point depression)
9) Finding the ionization constant of weak electrolytes
10) Factors affecting the reaction rate
11) Qualitative Analysis; Anion/Cation analysis

13) a) Finding Fe3+ by spectroscopic method b) Taking IR spectra of some substances and identification of functional groups.
14) Investigation of complex formation: Investigation of the component of [Ni(en)n]2+ complex by Job method
