Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) The Student has the knowledge of determining factors that are effective in the emergence of theological and political sects, paticularly those that has managed to survive until now, throughout the Islamic history
2) The student learns the formation period, beliefs and ideas, significant figures, literature, territory and contributions to the Islamic thought of the mentioned sects.
3) The student gains the knowledge about the sectarian geography in the contemporary Islamic world.
4) The student realizes the changes in the ideoloıgical and social perception of the sects by the effects of recet developments in past several centuries such as colonialism, industrial revolution, Western hegemony and influences.
5) The student acquires that sects are social structures that can influence and be influenced, suffer from change and transformation during historical process, and can make connection between them and modern religious movements
6) The students can follow the Arabic literature and concepts on the contemporary ISlamic sects
