Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Students know the theories about the source of religious thought.
2) Students will have information about the emergence and historical development of Indian Religions, Far Eastern Religions and Near-Eastern Religions.
3) Students learn the main beliefs and worship of the religions studied in the History of Religions Course and comprehend the relationship between these religions.
4) Students have the opportunity to see the effects of the religions on the members of the religions.
5) Students learn how to use the knowledge gained about the emergence of non-Islamic religions, historical developments, beliefs and worship in a better understanding of Islam.

History of Religions

Course Contents

Religions, also called “Living World Religions”, are discussed under the titles of Indian Hind Religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, Jaynism, Sikhism), Far Eastern Origin Religions (Chinese Religions- Daoism and Confucianism- Shintoism and Near Eastern Origins (Judaism, Christianity and Islam). In this course, all the religions that are examined are examined as they are reflected in the lives of their members within the framework of their emergence, historical development, basic beliefs and worship.
