Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Ability to identify learning disabilities, their causes, and diagnostic criteria
2) To be able to comprehend and explain the objectives of the identification and evaluation processes of students with learning disabilities.
3) To be able to describe and apply some of the tools used in diagnosing and assessing students with learning difficulties.
4) To be able to identify and identify the problems that children with learning disabilities present in the early period
5) To be able to define and determine the difficulties of students with learning difficulties in academic fields such as reading, writing and mathematics during their primary education years.
6) To be able to determine and apply appropriate guidance and psychological counseling methods for the families and teachers of students with learning difficulties.

Course Contents

Learning Disabilities course is a course that aims to enable guidance and psychological counselor candidates to define learning disabilities, their causes, diagnostic criteria, evaluation process, early childhood symptoms, and difficulties in reading, writing and mathematics in primary school years, and social skills / behavior problems. Within the scope of the course, adaptations and arrangements that can be made in educational environments and curricula for the needs and problems of students with learning disabilities, and guidance and psychological counseling methods and techniques for students, their families and teachers will be discussed.
