Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit
1) Be able to understand the occupational safety legislation and the basic concepts of occupational safety
2) To be able to use the definition of accident, causes and international accident assessment methods
3) To be able to comprehend the national institutions, occupational safety expertise and responsibilities related to occupational safety
4) To be able to recognize the design and standards of work equipment for work safety, health safety education and standards in workplaces, certification, OHSAS 18001 (TS 18001) occupational health and safety quality standard
5) Be able to comprehend and apply regulations related to the profession

Course Contents
This course covers below topics; The concept and development of occupational health and safety; Relating to occupational health and safety in the world and developments in Turkey; An overview of occupational health and safety and safety culture, duties of institutions, organizations and employees in the establishment of safety culture; National and international organizations and contracts related to occupational health and safety; Occupational health and safety management tracts; Hazard and risk concepts in occupational health and safety; Risk management, assessment and methodology; Risk analysis and sample applications; Occupational health and safety risk factors (physical, chemical, biological…); Work accidents, causes, prevention and protection principles; Occupational diseases, their causes, principles of prevention and protection, To provide basic occupational health and safety training to students on the concept of ergonomics and first aid and to compose a safety culture in students.
