This course covers below topics; Importance of plant breeding in agricultural production; reproductive systems and fertilization in plants; the importance of plant genetic resources in plant breeding, collection, conservation and evaluation; variation and degree of inheritance; genetic basis of plant breeding, inheritance of qualitative and quantitative characters; The use of incompatibility male infertility in plant breeding; Breeding methods applied to self and foreign fertilized plants; selection breeding, cross-breeding breeding, hybrid breed breeding; hybrid seed production; mutation breeding
