Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Evaluates garden plants of basic concepts, history, breeding, current issues, evaluates its place in the world and the situation in Turkey and the country's economy sector.
2) Recognizes the biological and physiological properties of horticultural crops.
3) Takes necessary measures regarding the ecological requirements of horticultural crops.
4) Applies sapling and seedling production, garden facility, cultural and technical processes in horticultural crops.
5) Applies the harvest and post-harvest processes in horticulture.
6) Solves the problems faced in all stages from the cultivation of horticultural plants to marketing.

Course Contents

Introduction to garden plants, the importance of the direction of Turkey's garden plants and its place in the economy, the kind of homeland and classification, biological and physiological principles, ecological, and generative reproduction by vegetative means, garden management, orchard plants and cultural practices. Also, garden plant and cultural practices, vineyard facilities and cultural practices, harvesting and post harvest processes in garden crops.
