Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Orally use basic patterns of greetings, farewell expressions and basic imperatives such as "read, listen, repeat"
2) Pronounce and stress the words correctly
3) Ask questions by using basic question words and answer them
4) Make basic telephone calls
5) Give information about countries, nationalities, occupations, family members and themselves
6) Make plurals of names, count from 1 to 30, identify the gender of the nouns (masculine, feminine and neutral), use possessive pronouns and the question word "whose" according to genders and answer it
7) Give information about weather, ask someone's health
8) Write simple sentences about themselves, comprehend the speaker when spoken slowly and express themselves in simple sentences

Course Contents

This course covers; meeting, alphabet, imperative sentences, pronunciation and stress, " Who is this?" and "What is this?" questions, telephone conversations, basic form of personal pronouns, "Where is it?", "What's the weather like?", "When is it?" questions, gender of nouns, time expressions for the day, farewell expressions, possessive pronouns, "Whose?" question for gender, family members, numbers, countries and nationalities, plural forms of nouns, occupations, "How old are you?" question.
