Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Describe ethics and understands its importance for human life. Explain the key role of ethics in the development of tourism industry.
2) Explain ethics theories (traditionally, normative ethics-also known as moral theory-, the field of general ethics, bioethics) and the principles.
3) Describe the relationship among ethical behaviour, law, traditions and habits.
4) Explain the principles of WTO Global Codes of Ethics for Tourism that sets a frame of reference for the responsible and sustainable development of world tourism.
5) Identfy the ethical behaviours-right, leadership, sensitivity, confidential-
6) Explain the latest human right- tourism. Additionally, the student identfy rights of the workers and entrepreneurs in the tourism industry.
7) Identfy the importance of maximizing the sector's benefits while minimizing its potentially negative impact on the environment, cultural heritage and societies across the globe.

Course Contents

After studying this course the student should be able to look at the folowings: 1) Tourism's contribution to mutual undrestanding and respect between people and societies, 2) Tourism as a vehicle for individual and collective fullfilment, 3) Tourism, a factor of sustainable development, 4) Tourism, a user of the cultural heritage of mankind and contributor to its enhancement, 5) Tourism, a beneficial activity for host countries and communities, 6) Obligaitions of stakeholders in tourism development, 7) Right to tourism, 8) Liberty of tourism movements.

1) Importance for human life, the key role of ethics in the development of tourism industry

6) The latest human right-tourism , the rights of the workers and entrepreneurs in the tourism industry
7) The importance of maximizing the sector's benefits while minimizing its potentially negative impact on the environment, cultural heritage and societies across the globe
8) Mid-term examination
9) "Is ethics important hospitality and tourism industry?" Discussing the answer of this question
10) Discussion the following topic: "Tourism often represents a rare opportunity for development in the face of the decline of traditional eceonomic activities"(Case Study 1)
11) Discussing the following topic: "The prospect of direct ad personal access to the discovery and enjoyment of the planet's resources constitues a right equally open to all the world's inhabitants" (Case Study 2)
12) Discussing the following topic: "Family, youth, student and senior tourism and tourism for people with disabilities should be encouraged and facilitated" (Case Study 3)
13) Discussing the following topic: "Financial resources derived from visits to cultural sites and monuments should, at least in part, be used for the upkeep, safeguard, development and establishment of this heritage" (Case Study 4)
