Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1) Explains importance of the sensors used in the industrial application,
2) Able to clasifiy the sensors according to their purpose of usage and according to their structure
3) Explanins the structure and operation principle of the most common sensors such as Tempurature, proxy, pressure, current and voltage sensors, and incrementalş encoders and tachometers
4) Able to understand the user manuals of sensors and able to select sensors acorrding to technical specification
5) Able to implement simple sensor applications such as measurement of motor speed, current and voltage using appripriate sensors, designing optical izolation and NTC and PTC circuits

Measure Systems, Basic Definition and Concept of Signals and Standards, Comparison of Measure Systems, Basic Principles of Temperature Measurement, Explanation of Principles of Expansion Thermometers and Thermometer With Resistance, Arranging The Table of Thermocouple Topics, Types, Temperature Gauge, Explanation of Heat (Radiation) Pyrometers Principles and Types, Basic Definition of Pressure, Flexible Sensor Elements, Pressure Measurement With Using Piezo Electrical Elements, Working Principles of Potentiometer, Velocity and Acceleration Concepts, Basic Theory and Definition of Fluids, The Definition of Fluid Flow Measurements, Sensors and Working Principles.

1) Measurement systems, basic concept about signal and standards, and definitions
2) Control systems and sensors
3) Tempreture measurement methods and tempreture sensors
4) Termometers, types and usage area
5) Termocouples, structure, features, types, and used area
6) Presure measyrement methods, pioze stage and using in presure measuremnt, used area
7) Place replacement and motion sensors and tyes (Kapasitif , Endüktif, Relüktans, Potansiometric, Strain-Gage, Ultrasonic, position switch)
8) Midterm examination/Assessment
9) Position sensors and position measurement
10) Liquid flow, and flow meters
11) Current and voltage sensors and current and voltage measurement
12) Torque and force, mearument methods and sensors
13) Accelaration, measuremnet methods and sensors
