This program aims to teach theoretically and practically the basic concepts and principles of electrical energy generation, transmission, distribution and use, and systems operating with electrical energy. In addition, it aims to train intermediate personnel needed in the installation, installation and operation and maintenance of electrical systems.
Genel Bilgi Çağdaş teknolojinin oluşmasında en önemli rolü oynayan sektörlerden birisi elektrik enerjisi alanıdır. Bu alan, sayısal sistemler, bilgisayar, elektrik, elektronik enerji sistemlerini kapsamaktadır. Bu programda, enerji sistemlerinin üretimi, kurulması ve işletilmesinde çalışacak öğrencilere, üretim elemanı ile mühendis arasında teknikerlik düzeyinde eğitim vererek, sektöre vasıflı iş gücü sağlamak amaçlanmaktadır. 1976 yılında öğrenci alımına başlayan Elektrik Programı, Kocaeli Meslek Yüksekokulu’nun 1988 yılında Yükseköğretim Kurulu ve Dünya Bankası II. Endüstriyel Eğitim Projesi kapsamına alınması ile yönetici ve öğretim elemanı yetiştirme programları yanında atölye ve laboratuvarların çağdaş imkanlar ile donanımı konusunda proje tarafından sağlanan avantajlardan yararlanmıştır. Considering the all sectors to form the contemporary technology, one of the most important roles is played by electrical energy area. This area covers numerical systems, computer, electrical and electronic energy systems. In this program, for the aim of providing the sector with qualified intermediate staff to work between the engineers and manufacture personnel, the education model offered to the students mainly focuses on the production, installation and operation of electrical systems. Electrical program started to admit students in 1976. Electrical Program in Kocaeli Vocational School has joined with the Industrial Training Project with the approval of the Board of Higher education and the World Bank II in 1988. Thus, it has taken the advantages and benefited from the opportunities of the project such as; managers and teaching staff training programs, workshop and the designation of the laboratories with the contemporary equipment.
Mezunlar İçin İstihdam Olanakları Elektrik programından mezun olan öğrenciler kazandıkları yeterlikler doğrultusunda; elektrik, elektronik, makine, ulaşım, otomotiv, gıda, petrol, ilaç, demir çelik sektöründe mal/hizmet üreten sanayi kuruluşlarında, küçük ve orta ölçekli işletmeler ve kamu kurumlarında “Tekniker” olarak istihdam edilirler. Students who have graduated from Electrical Program, in accordance with their acquired qualifications, can be employed as “ a Technician” in electronics, machinery, transportation, automotive, food processing, oil, pharmaceuticals, iron and steel industry, in producing goods/services in industrial enterprises, small and medium-sized businesses and public institutions. In addition, they can work independently.

Upon a successful completion of the associate program, so as to get a bachelor’s degree, students can apply to programs of related field(s) such as; Electrical Engineering and Electrical-Electronic Engineering on condition that they get the required score from Vertical Transfer Exam conducted by OSYM. (Student Selection and Placement Center). Anadolu University Distance Learning Bachelor’s Degree Programs are also available for our graduates.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Lateral or vertical transfer student admission is carried out basing on the "The Transfer Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees, Double Majors, Sub-specialties and Credit Transfer Regulations among Institutions". The prior learning of transfer students is recognized as per the relevant regulations of Council of Higher Education and under the coordination of the Adaptation Committee.

Kocaeli University guarantees in advance that all credits gained and courses received by an Erasmus student after the mobility abroad will be fully recognized and transferred into Kocaeli University system and upon arrival with the approval of the authorities and the student. While preparing the" Erasmus Credit Transfer and Grade Equivalency Table" the ECTS grades are transmitted to Kocaeli University grading system.

Turkish higher education institutions are in the start-up phase about the recognition of non-formal and informal education. However; computer and foreign language skills that students improve on their own, are evaluated through exemption examinations by the university. Students who prove to be proficient in such exams are exempted from related course(s).

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Examination, assessment and grading procedure is mainly based on Kocaeli University Education and Training Regulations for Associate and Undergraduate Degrees Depending on the nature of the course various instruments such as midterms, final exams, short exams, presentations, assignments, projects, portfolios and applications may be involved in the assessment process of a semester on condition that students are informed about their weights upon registry. Contribution of these activities to final grading range between 30% -70% and So as to be eligible to take the final exam, a student has to fulfill the attendance requirement of 70% for theoretical and 80 % for practical courses. Once this requirement is fulfilled, attendance is not required again in case of a failure and retaking that course. Final grading of a course is determined on the basis of semester studies and final exam. Those with certified and officially approved excuses are also given a makeup exam.
